It used to be that you became famous you would inevitably form a lifestyle brand that typically included a fragrance or a fashion line. That was the past. With recreational cannabis now legal for recreational use in 10 states and DC, these famous stoners are deciding to capitalize on the largest growing trend in the US: weed.
Now, it’s all about the celebrity weed lines. Instead of coming out with their own signature scents, celebs are coming out with their own signature strains, and unlike many of the fragrances, these strains are actually good. No, seriously.
Celebrity weed lines are the new up and coming thing, which means that many in the industry eschew them for being too trendy, or being nothing but slick packaging and even slicker marketing. This is the case with some of course, so how do you know which ones are worth it?
Willie’s Reserve
One would hope that Willie Nelson, perhaps one of the most famous stoners of all time, would have a decent celebrity weed line, and you would be right. The Red Headed Stranger (or would it be “strainger”?)’s line is sticky, icky, and delicious. Strains that you will want to try in particular include his own version of Sour Diesel and my personal favorite, the OG Bubba Kush.
Zef Zol
Fans of the South African techno rap group Die Antwoord, will definitely want to try Zef Zol, a line that includes flower, cartridges, and various edibles. The packaging is a lot like the group itself: bourgie with a mix of true proletarian (read: poor) style. Canna-enthusiasts will love the Rainbow Belts, a delicious and incredibly potent gummy treat!
Wiz Khalifa
Wiz Khalifa’s line of Wiz Khalifa Kush aka Wiz Khalifa OG, has been available in Colorado dispensaries for three years now, so if you have not tried it yet, what exactly are you waiting for? Making its debut in 2016, Khalifa Kush set the standard for what a celebrity weed line should be. Whether or not the strain is descended from an OG strain as the artist claims, there is no denying that smoking it guarantees you a good time!
Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash
Fans of the Jay and Silent Bob movies (new one coming soon!) will love Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash, a new line of delectable cannabis strains such as Berserker Sativa (if you didn’t hear the song from Clerks right there, can you really call yourself a fan?), Snoogans Indica and a dank hybrid known as Snoochie Boochies!
