The desktop vaporiser was the first method of vaporising herbs, concentrates and essential oils for inhalation. Desktop vaporisers were a commonly used method of consuming herbs by medical herb users that didn’t want to smoke or use a bong. In comparison to portable vaporisers, desktop vaporisers are significantly larger and are designed to remain stationary. Due to the rapid innovation and ingenuity of desktop vaporisers, they have increased in popularity because of the high-quality vaping experience they provide.
Desktop vaporisers were designed with one goal in mind, to provide a cleaner, very potent alternative to smoking herb mixtures. Similar to an oven, desktop vaporizers bake the herb mixture at a very specific temperature to produce the vapour.
Designed to sit stationary on flat surfaces, desktop vaporisers can be placed on tables, shelves and even the floor. They cost slightly more than portable vaporisers, due to their size and components involved to create them. Dry herb and essential oil desktop vaporisers would often be plugged into the wall to source their power. However, due to the advancements in technology, desktop vaporisers can now be bought with rechargeable batteries.
There are two methods of direct inhalation from a desktop vaporiser. The first method is to take a draw from the silicone tube, also referred to as the “whip.” The second way to take a hit is by using the heat-resistant balloon after it's been filled with vapour. Desktop vaporisers essentially cook the herb and release all of the herb’s goodness, without the need for combustion. This filters out any harmful chemicals such as tars and resins, allowing a cleaner hit.
